Coalescence of Crime

Game Description

In Coalescence of Crime you play as Sojiro, father of Genji and Hanzo. In this turn-based-single-player RPG, inspired by "Yakuza: Like a Dragon" & "Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth", you will face the unfortunate downfall of Shambali and fight numerous criminals with your squad of heroes.

Make sure to check out the sequel "Dissever for Virtue" afterwards too!

This description is divided into sections below and it will cover many cool things. I recommend reading most of it for the best experience possible. :3

Important things are highlighted in Orange

Story

Shambali was once a vibrant village, brimming with joy and laughter. However, the arrival of a group of criminals cast a dark shadow over the once-thriving community. Genji urgently summoned me for assistance, and as a father, I couldn't turn a blind eye to his plea for help. ~ Sojiro

Combat

Before entering into combat, you can strike the enemy first to gain the initial advantage in battle and deal some damage right from the start. During combat, you will have various options to choose from, including moving, guarding, and attacking. (I will only cover a few things here. There is a tutorial available in the game for the basics.) After winning a fight, your team will gain experience points and may level up, increasing their strength. Fallen allies receive fewer XP. In addition, you will receive ¥ Yen, which you can use at Kamnam's Item Shop.

Skills

Skills are more powerful attacks that require MP to perform. Descriptions of each skill can be found at the top of your screen. There are four types of skills with 3 being quick-time-events. Each is represented by a button on the far right of the selectable skills (refer to the controls at the top of this post for the buttons in question). Examples of all four types are provided below. Accomplishing the event increases the skill's strength.

Timing (Ultimate Button) Mashing (Reload Button)
These skills require you to time your button press once the bar at the top enters the center gap. These skills require you to mash your button until the bar on top fills up.
Empty (---) Mix (x)
There is no quick-time-event x is a mixture of a Timing & Mashing quick-time-event

Perfect Guarding

A Perfect guard is highly important to master and can reduce the incoming damage by half! There are 2 types of a Perfect Guard as seen below.

Note: Having "Toggle Crouch" will cause many issues. If possible switch to "Crouch" in the settings of your game.

Singular Hit Rapid Hit
Getting hit once every few times require you to time your guard button right before getting struck Getting hit rapidly will necessitate you to keep holding guard in addition to timing the initial strike
Tip: Mashing won't help. timing is generous; too early is better than too late. Tip: Failing the initial hit is detrimental here; too late is better than too early.

Buffs, Debuffs, Status Effects & Criticals

Buffs and Debuffs

Buffs and debuffs are statistical changes that occur during battle, usually as a result of specific skills used by allies and enemies.

Status Effects

Status effects can also be caused by skills. There are a handful of them to consider. For example, the "Asleep" status effect causes the affected character to stay asleep until they take damage. When they are hit, the damage is doubled and cannot be guarded, similar to being knocked down.

Criticals

Critical hits are a random occurrence unless a headshot or a back attack is performed; with it, it's a 100% guaranteed critical hit. A back attack is performed when striking an enemy's back with a normal attack.

Inventory & Charms

In your inventory, you have several options such as pausing the game, using items for healing after battles or restoring MP, and most importantly, equipping charms. Charms can permanently alter your statistics until they are unequipped, and some of them even have special effects. You can find charms all over the map, so be sure to explore!

Progression & Boss Fights

There are multiple boss fights to participate in. Defeating a boss will allow you to progress in the story and enhance the effects of items. Talk to Kamnam whenever you are ready!

Music

Listen to the amazing soundtrack I've curated to enhance the experience. The first song sets the tone for regular battles, while the subsequent tracks are perfectly aligned with each boss encounter.

All credit goes to "SEGA SOUND TEAM" and "Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth"

Alternatively You can play this song constantly in the background or outside of battles.

All credit goes to to "ATLUS"

Time to Beat

I should mention that this game doesn't support a save system. You should preferably find some time to play it in one sitting.

Average completion times

Speedrun (story only) Any % (normal playthrough) 100% (all collectibles + post game)
1h (60min) - 1h 30min (90min) 2h 15min (135min) - 3h (180min) 3h 30min (210min) - 4h (240min)

These numbers can vary depending if you are familiar with turn-based RPGs; especially the ones it's inspired by, whether it's your 1st time playing or you already played this game mode numerous times.

Developer Words

Yay! You've finally reached the end! If you read all of what was listed, I thank you so much! :3

I have put a lot of time into this Project. 2 years of development in total (1 year in Overwatch 1 and 1 year in Overwatch 2.) So I can only hope that you reading this enjoy it as much as I and my friends did.

Originally, this game mode had more going on; having more and better cutscenes, a better story, and even Side Quests. Unfortunately, I had to cut it down cause of Workshop issues and limitations. So here we are XD
I still hope some of you like it and if so, let me know! I would love to hear people's opinions!

Thank you to all the readers! <333
