Coalescence of Crime: Trip to Midtown
Coalescence of Crime: Trip to Midtown
Game Description
Coalescence of Crime: Trip to Midtown is part of my RPG series! The story plays between "Coalescence of Crime" and "Dissever for Virtue."
It's a turn-based-single-player experience following new additions I've added to this one in the series; like swapping out allies during battle and even leveling up skills separately!
This description is divided into sections below and it will cover many cool things. I recommend reading most of it for the best experience possible.
Important things are highlighted in Orange
Story
The famous heroes from Shambali kicked off an exciting adventure as they rolled into the lively streets of Midtown. When they arrived, everyone—except for the thoughtful Sojiro—could hardly contain their excitement and rushed off to explore what the city had to offer. But it didn’t take long for them to realize that behind Midtown's vibrant exterior was a darker side, showing that the city wasn’t the carefree paradise they had imagined. |
Combat
1) Basics
Before you enter a battle, you have the opportunity to attack an enemy first. This lets your team go on the offensive while dealing some damage before the enemy takes a turn.
Battles are done in turns, and you need to think carefully about your moves. On your turn, you can choose to attack, use an item, or protect yourself. You can also move your character around to better position yourself for your attacks.
You’ll see different colors on the left side of the screen during battles to help you keep track of whose turn it is.

Winning battles gives you XP and money. When a character earns enough XP, they level up and improve their stats. Each character's level-up changes their stats differently.

2) Attacks and Skills
Basic attacks are straightforward and help you regain some MP.
Skills, however, are much stronger but will use up some of your MP. You can make skills even more powerful by successfully completing a quick-time event when you use them.
There are two main types of quick-time events. Only very few skills require you to perform both.
Timing (Ultimate Button) | Mashing (Primary & Secondary Fire Button) |
You need to press a button at just the right moment when the indicator matches up. | You must repeatedly press the buttons indicated quickly until the indicator fills up. |
¦
3) Perfect Guarding
A Perfect Guard happens when you successfully block an incoming attack by pressing the guard button just before or while being hit.
Note: If your game has a "Toggle Crouch" option, this can cause problems. It’s usually best to set it to just "Crouch" in the game settings.
Single Hits | Multiple Hits |
For one hit every now and then, press the guard button just before you're hit. | If you're hit several times in a row, keep holding the guard button while timing the first hit. |
Tip: Timing is important; it’s better to be a little early than too late. | Tip: Don't worry if you miss the first timing; it's better to be slightly late than too early. |

4) Buffs, Debuffs, Status Effects, and Critical Hits
Buffs and Debuffs
These are changes to a character's stats during a battle, usually due to skills used by your team or the enemies, these pass by turns and can be extended slightly or shortened.
Status Effects
These add specific problems to a character, lasting for a set time or until a certain number of turns has passed.
Critical Hits
You can land a critical hit by aiming for the enemy’s head, attacking a downed or frozen enemy, or striking them from behind.
Here you can see Kiriko attempting to back attack an enemy. To perform a back attack, you must hit the enemy from behind. Only certain skills can do this, but all normal attacks will work. |
¦
5) Swap Ally
You can swap your ally both during and outside of battle. However, switching during a battle will use up a turn. Depending on the speed of the ally you bring in, they might receive an extra turn. For Standby Allies, any buffs, debuffs, or status effects will be preserved and paused until the conclusion of the battle. |
Inventory & Gear
In your inventory, you have several options. You can pause the game, use items to heal after battles or restore your MP. The most important thing is equipping Gear. Gear provides benefits to the character you equip it to until you decide to remove it. Explore the map to find different Gear! |
Time to Beat
Keep in mind that this game doesn’t have a save system. It’s best to play it all in one go if you can.
