✲ Randomized Deathmatch: Trivago ✲

What Is Going On?
Randomized Deathmatch: Trivago is a 10-player FFA. Aside from that, all you need to know is that this gamemode is meant to be enjoyed as in-queue brainrot. Nothing will make sense, and that is by design.

If you are trying to make sense of what is happening then there are only 4 things for you to know:

1) Your gimmick changes every life and provides you with a random passive bonus.
2) Your color denotes your team. You can't see your own color, so use process of elimination to figure it out.
3) The orbs can be collected by walking into them and provide immediate effects.
4) The shop sells permanent benefits at the cost of gold.

Read below for a more in-depth explanation of the mechanics:

How do gimmicks work?

A player's gimmick provides them with a passive benefit. For example, the "Move Faster" gimmick increases your movement speed. There are 36 gimmicks in the mode, with 17 being unlocked at the beginning of the match.

How do I unlock the other gimmicks?

Collecting enough EXP will allow you to level up. Upon leveling up, you automatically receive a random reward. This can either be a new gimmick unlock or a temporary bonus like additional gold.

Why is my gimmick sometimes weaker than it was before?

The strength of your gimmick will wildly vary between lives, and this is because of your Gimmick Strength. Your Gimmick Strength set to a random value between 0-4 every life and dictates how strong your gimmick is, with 0 being useless and 4 being ungodly powerful.

What does being wanted do?

After attacking players of your color enough, you become a wanted criminal. This separates you from your team, reveals you through walls indefinitely, and gives additional score to whoever kills you.

How do orbs work?

Orbs spawn randomly around the map in abundance, and can come in various types. Gold orbs give money when collected, EXP orbs give experience when collected, and power orbs give a random effect when collected. The odds of each orb type is roughly 47%/23%/30% (Gold/EXP/Power).

Additional detail on Power Orbs:

Power orbs can come in 6 colors: Black, White, Orange, Green, Blue, and Purple. While it may at first appear as though the effect you roll is totally random, each color actually has a pool of results that it pulls from when collected.

In general: Black orbs will randomize some aspect of your character, Blue orbs will augment either your movement or money, Orange orbs will either be really good or really bad, Green orbs are almost always good, Purple orbs are silly goofy, and White orbs are full of miscellaneous effects.

How does the shop work?

The shop will appear and present one item. Every available item will have its cost randomized before the match, up to 30% higher or lower than normal price. When picking which item to present, the shopkeeper can only choose from the X cheapest items in the game, with X being a random value between 5 and 12 (decided before the match). After an item is bought, the shopkeeper reappears at a different location with a different offer. The shopkeeper cannot offer an item that they have already offered.

Why does the game break so often?

If you're seeing a game-breaking "bug", it's probably intentional. There are tags in this mode, and every life each tag has a 1/120 chance of being applied to you. These tags fundamentally augment your gameplay and you are never told that they exist or are influencing you. Some tag effects include:

Colorblind: you can't see enemy colors.
Misunderstood: Your gimmick HUD is completely wrong.
Volatile: When picking up an orb, there's a chance it explodes in your face instead of whatever it was supposed to do.
Purple: You are purple, meaning you do not belong to any team.
Stoic: Whenever you would change gimmicks there is a chance you don't.
