A Great Day

Game Mode Description

In my first-ever PvE game mode, inspired by the Overwatch animated short "A Great Day," your mission is to grab the data/relay while playing as Mauga, Reaper, Sombra, and even Doomfist! Work your way through a random combination of missions as you journey through Busan to reach the carrier where the relay is located. As you progress, you will strengthen your character and add skills to your current run.

My goal was to create a game mode that offers a good balance of replayability and story. While you play, you will get to enjoy some dialogue between the characters, including references to the animated short.

Note: This game mode isn't meant to be an exact representation of what happens in the animated short.

Important things are highlighted in Orange

Upgrade/Skill Menu

This is a visual representation of the upgrade/skill menu. On the left-hand side, you will find the skills that can be equipped and purchased. On the right-hand side, your current stats and available money are displayed. Above your characters, you will see the available slots for your skills.
You only get to see this Screen Between missions and it can't be accessed manualy.

Acquiring Skills

To choose a skill, simply move up or down. Hold the ultimate button to view the details of the skill. Press the jump button to assign a skill to a slot; you can only assign as many skills as there are available slots above your character. Keep in mind that more powerful skills often come with a cost.

When you begin, you have only two open slots, but after completing a mission, an additional slot becomes available, enabling you to use an extra skill.

Money & Upgrading

At the start of the game, you will have 30¢ to spend. To earn money, you will need to perform well during the missions. Performing poorly will result in less rewarding outcomes.

You can spend this money to acquire more powerful skills and/or to upgrade one of three stats.
In addition, some stat upgrades can enhance certain skills.

Enemies

There are 3 main types of enemies.

1. Basic 2. Specials 3. Bosses
Basic enemies are not very dangerous on their own but can be a threat in large numbers. Elite versions of these enemies can spawn, they have more health and an extra ability, so it's important to focus on defeating them first. It's also important to note that only one elite version of each basic enemy character can exist. Special enemies can only spawn in limited quantities, but they are significantly more powerful and have a handful of abilities to use against you. Bosses only spawn in certain missions and are very powerful, possessing special abilities to take you down.

Settings

In the Settings, you are able to customize your experience. It's best to keep this as it is when playing for the first time.
Difficulty Missions Server Optimization
Difficulty can be chosen from Easy - Legendary. Choose what Mission to play per Area. Select the level of server optimization you desire. (It's recommended not to adjust this unless you are comfortable with the risks of it crashing.)
